Designed for my final research report following a summer spent as a cook at a Buddhist monastery in South Korea. I wanted to prominently feature a photo I had taken, but initially struggled to figure out where to put it on the page—dead center? Or aligned to a certain side, but which one? Ultimately, it seemed like a good idea to shift it to the upper right corner, letting the eye naturally fall (reading left to right) on the vertical title first and then on the image. For the script, I played around with various cursives in an online sketchpad, using my laptop touchpad as my pen. I liked the idea of a swirly S, and tried my best to balance the remaining letters between being stylized and legible. The text in the bottom left corner written in Akzidenz Grotesk.
