Photography: Sam with Film on Film
Taken with my photographer cousin, Sam Meester, as he was showing me the basics of the large-format picture-making process during Thanksgiving break. I really love how these images turned out, especially the unexpected orange-and-teal contrast that creeps in as the sun gets lower on the horizon. The last photo is based on of a portrait of Bob Dylan taken by Art Kane in 1971, which uses the poofiness of the singer's hair in golden hour light to create almost a haloed feel. One major difference I wish I'd noticed is that Dylan looks slightly away from the lens axis, giving a distant and meditative effect. All images taken on an Olympus OM–1n with Portra 400 film.
